Kinetic Typography (Part Three)

After playing around in After Effects for a bit, I started work on my own choice of kinetic typography. I decided to use the song ‘Hand Grenades’ by The Offspring as the music in the background, as the song is only 35 seconds long.

I decided to use various different fonts in this piece to make it look more interesting, as well as animating each word in a different style. I also decided to give the background a different colour to make it look a bit different to the previous one.

I really like kinetic typography and definitely plan to look into additional methods of creating it.

Kinetic Typography (Part Two)

After watching several videos on, I managed to create my first piece of kinetic typography. Using the sound clip provided on myBU, I made some simple animations with the text. The process was very time consuming, as you have to animate each word individually and clip them to the appropriate place on the timeline, though it was also quite fun to do and became increasingly easier as time went on.

For my next attempt at kinetic typography, I want to be a bit more creative with the way the text looks, as I stuck to very basic black and white for this piece.

After Effects Workshop

In today’s workshop we were shown how to do various things in After Effects. Before we started, we had to film a short piece of footage in front of a piece of green card so that we could import it into After Effects. Once imported, we were shown how to remove the green background and replace it with whatever we wanted. I decided to put the clip of my head inside a photo frame so that it looked like a picture was moving. We were then showed a couple of different ways to animate text.

Kinetic Typography (Part One)

For this weeks task, we have been asked to create a short kinetic typography piece. Kinetic typography is the animation of words to speech. There are many examples of kinetic typography on sites such as Youtube, which were created using specialist software such as Adobe After Effects and Flash. To start off this task, I plan to watch some tutorials on in order to learn how to use After Effects to make kinetic typography.
